In St. Petersburg, at the main entrance to the Smolny, a new picket of residents of the city living along the Shpalernaya, Kavalergardskaya, Tverskaya and Stavropol streets was recently completed.
In the address of the residents, which they handed over to the governor of St. Petersburg, a protest was expressed against the large-scale plans of the company called Reform for the imminent demolition of all the former barracks on Shpalernaya Street 51. It is known that the company wants to build an elite residential complex with a large underground parking there. Residents of all neighboring houses, as well as the city defenders themselves, are confident that all buildings planned for demolition may have a historical relationship specifically to the Pavlovian period, as well as to the barracks of the Cavalry Regiment. People have collected more than 600 signatures and are now convincingly asking the governor of the city to prevent the repetition of the situation with the demolition, the complete destruction of the Preobrazhensky barracks. Recall that in their place built a residential complex "Parade quarter".
And in their appeal, residents of the city ask Georgiy Poltavchenko to oblige KGIOP to conduct a thoroughly historical, cultural, and technical examination of the buildings of the barracks. It should be noted that the main goal of any technical expertise of structures is to determine the technical condition of all supporting and enclosing structures, finishing coatings and partitions. Pending the completion of research, residents are required to ensure the safety of these enclosures. Activists in the letter indicated that this company does not have all the necessary permits, and there is no necessary approved working draft.
